Types of Cream
There are several types of cream, each with varying fat content and uses. Heavy cream, also known as heavy whipping cream, contains about 36% fat and is ideal for whipping and making rich sauces. Light cream, or table cream, has around 18-30% fat and is often used in coffee or poured over desserts.
Sour cream is a fermented dairy product with a tangy flavor, commonly used in dips and as a topping. Crème fraîche is similar but has a higher fat content and a milder taste. Whipped cream is made by whipping heavy cream until it forms soft peaks, perfect for desserts.
