Uechi-Ryu
Uechi-Ryu is a traditional style of karate that originated in Okinawa, Japan. It was founded by Kanbun Uechi in the early 20th century, drawing influences from Chinese martial arts, particularly the Southern Chinese style known as Pangai-noon. Uechi-Ryu emphasizes strong stances, powerful strikes, and effective self-defense techniques.
The training in Uechi-Ryu includes various forms, or kata, which are pre-arranged sequences of movements. Practitioners also engage in sparring and conditioning exercises to develop strength, flexibility, and reflexes. Uechi-Ryu is known for its focus on practical applications and the integration of physical and mental discipline.
