Cimbrian War
The Cimbrian War was a conflict that occurred between 113 and 101 BCE, involving the Cimbri and Teutones, two Germanic tribes, against the Roman Republic. The war began when these tribes migrated into Roman territory, seeking new lands. The Romans faced significant defeats in battles, including the Battle of Arausio in 105 BCE, which resulted in heavy losses.
The conflict ultimately ended with the Roman general Gaius Marius and his colleague Lucius Cornelius Sulla defeating the Cimbri at the Battle of Vercellae in 101 BCE. This victory solidified Roman power in the region and marked a turning point in Roman military history.
