{1715 Rising
The 1715 Rising, also known as the Jacobite Rising of 1715, was an attempt by supporters of the House of Stuart to restore James Francis Edward Stuart to the British throne. The uprising began in Scotland in September 1715, following the death of Queen Anne and the succession of George I.
The rebellion was marked by several battles, including the notable Battle of Sheriffmuir. Despite initial successes, the rising ultimately failed, leading to the defeat of the Jacobite forces. The aftermath resulted in increased repression of Scottish culture and the dismantling of the clan system in Scotland.
