George I
George I was the King of Great Britain and Ireland from 1714 until his death in 1727. He was born in 1660 in Germany and belonged to the House of Hanover. George I became king after the death of Queen Anne, as he was a Protestant and a descendant of the Stuart line, which made him a suitable heir according to the Act of Settlement 1701.
During his reign, George I faced challenges, including political tensions with the Whigs and Tories, the two main political parties of the time. He spent much of his time in Germany, leading to a perception of detachment from British affairs. His reign marked the beginning of the Hanoverian dynasty in Britain.
