1715 Rising
The 1715 Rising, also known as the Jacobite Rising of 1715, was an uprising in Great Britain aimed at restoring the House of Stuart to the throne. It was led by James Francis Edward Stuart, known as the Old Pretender, who claimed the throne after the death of his father, James II. The rebellion primarily took place in Scotland, where supporters rallied to the Jacobite cause.
The rising began in September 1715 and saw initial successes, including the capture of Edinburgh. However, it ultimately failed due to a lack of support and military resources. The rebellion ended in early 1716, leading to increased repression of Jacobite sympathizers and solidifying the power of the Hanoverian monarchy.
