darshanas
Darshanas are philosophical systems in Indian thought that provide different perspectives on understanding reality and existence. Traditionally, there are six main darshanas: Nyaya, Vaisheshika, Sankhya, Yoga, Mimamsa, and Vedanta. Each system offers unique insights into metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics, contributing to a rich tapestry of Indian philosophy.
These darshanas can be broadly categorized into two groups: astika, which accept the authority of the Vedas, and nastika, which do not. The astika schools include Nyaya, Vaisheshika, Sankhya, Yoga, and Mimamsa, while the nastika schools include Buddhism and Jainism. Each darshana encourages critical thinking and exploration of life's fundamental questions.
