War of the League of Cambrai
The War of the League of Cambrai (1508-1516) was a conflict involving a coalition of European powers, including the Duchy of Milan, Kingdom of France, and the Holy Roman Empire, against the Republic of Venice. The war aimed to curb Venice's growing influence and territorial expansion in northern Italy.
The conflict saw several battles and shifting alliances, with notable figures like Julius II, the Pope, playing a crucial role in forming the league. Ultimately, the war ended with the Treaty of Noyon in 1516, which restored some territories to Venice but marked a decline in its power in the region.
