Victor Amadeus I was the Duke of Savoy from 1630 until his death in 1637. He was born on May 14, 1587, and was the son of Charles Emmanuel I, Duke of Savoy and Catherine of Austria. During his rule, Victor Amadeus I worked to consolidate power and maintain the independence of Savoy amidst the political complexities of Europe. He was married to Cristina of France, which helped to forge important alliances. His legacy continued through his son, Charles Emmanuel II.
