Victor Amadeus I, Duke of Savoy
Victor Amadeus I was the Duke of Savoy from 1630 until his death in 1637. He was born on May 14, 1587, and was the son of Charles Emmanuel I, Duke of Savoy and Catherine of Austria. His reign was marked by efforts to strengthen the duchy and improve its economy, although he faced challenges from external conflicts and internal strife.
During his rule, Victor Amadeus I worked to consolidate power and maintain the independence of Savoy amidst the political complexities of Europe. He was married to Cristina of France, which helped to forge important alliances. His legacy continued through his son, Charles Emmanuel II.
