Catherine of Austria
Catherine of Austria (1507-1578) was a member of the Habsburg dynasty and the daughter of Philip the Handsome and Joanna of Castile. She became the Queen of Portugal through her marriage to John III of Portugal in 1525, strengthening the ties between the Habsburgs and the Portuguese crown.
As queen, Catherine played a significant role in the cultural and political life of Portugal. She was known for her piety and support of the Catholic Church, as well as her involvement in charitable works.
