Pharaoh Neco
Pharaoh Neco, also known as Necho II, ruled ancient Egypt from 610 to 595 BCE. He is best known for his military campaigns, particularly against the Assyrian Empire and the Babylonian Empire. Neco sought to expand Egypt's influence and engaged in significant battles, including the notable Battle of Megiddo.
In addition to his military endeavors, Neco is credited with initiating the construction of a canal linking the Nile River to the Red Sea. This ambitious project aimed to enhance trade and navigation. His reign marked a period of both conflict and development in ancient Egyptian history.
