Estragon (Tarragon)
Estragon, commonly known as tarragon, is a perennial herb belonging to the sunflower family. It is characterized by its slender, elongated leaves and a distinct, aromatic flavor that is often described as slightly sweet and anise-like. Estragon is widely used in culinary dishes, particularly in French cuisine, where it enhances sauces, dressings, and marinades.
There are two main varieties of estragon: French tarragon and Russian tarragon. French tarragon is prized for its superior flavor and is often used fresh or dried, while Russian tarragon has a milder taste and is more resilient in colder climates. Both types are valued for their culinary and medicinal properties.
