Edward II of England
Edward II of England was born on April 25, 1284, and became king in 1307 after the death of his father, Edward I. His reign was marked by conflicts with powerful nobles and military failures, particularly in the Hundred Years' War against Scotland.
Edward's favoritism towards certain courtiers, notably Piers Gaveston, led to political strife and rebellion among the barons. In 1327, he was deposed by his wife, Isabella of France, and her lover, Roger Mortimer, leading to his imprisonment and eventual death, likely by murder, in 1327.
