Carlist movement
The Carlist movement is a traditionalist and legitimist political movement in Spain that emerged in the early 19th century. It advocates for the rights of the Carlist claimants to the Spanish throne, who are descendants of Infante Carlos, the brother of King Ferdinand VII. The movement arose in response to disputes over succession and the legitimacy of the Bourbon monarchy.
Carlist supporters, known as Carlistas, have historically sought to restore a monarchy based on conservative values, regional autonomy, and Catholicism. The movement has been involved in several civil wars, notably the Carlist Wars, which took place in the 19th century, reflecting deep political and social divisions in Spain.
