Carlist Wars
The Carlist Wars were a series of civil wars in Spain during the 19th century, primarily between supporters of Carlos María Isidro de Borbón, known as the Carlists, and the supporters of the reigning monarchs from the Bourbon dynasty. The conflicts arose over issues of succession and regional autonomy, with the Carlists advocating for a traditionalist and conservative vision of Spain.
The first Carlist War began in 1833 and lasted until 1839, followed by a second conflict from 1846 to 1849, and a third from 1872 to 1876. These wars were marked by guerrilla warfare and significant social and political upheaval, ultimately leading to the consolidation of the Bourbon monarchy and the decline of Carlist influence in Spain.
