The one-horned rhinoceros, also known as the Indian rhinoceros, is a large herbivore native to the grasslands and forests of India and Nepal. This unique animal is easily recognized by its single horn, which can grow up to 25 inches long. With thick, wrinkled skin that resembles armor, the one-horned rhino is well-adapted to its environment and can weigh over 2,200 kilograms. These magnificent creatures are primarily solitary, although they may gather in small groups near water sources. The one-horned rhinoceros plays a crucial role in its ecosystem by helping to maintain the balance of vegetation. Sadly, they are endangered due to habitat loss and poaching for their horns.
