Yasuni National Park
Yasuni National Park is located in the eastern part of Ecuador and is one of the most biodiverse areas in the world. Established in 1979, it covers approximately 982,000 hectares and is home to thousands of plant and animal species, many of which are found nowhere else on Earth. The park is situated in the Amazon rainforest, which plays a crucial role in global ecology.
The park is also significant for its indigenous communities, including the Waorani and Kichwa peoples, who have lived in harmony with the land for generations. Yasuni is recognized as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, highlighting its importance for conservation and sustainable development.
