Yasuni
Yasuni is a national park located in the eastern part of Ecuador, known for its rich biodiversity and unique ecosystems. It covers approximately 1 million hectares and is part of the Amazon Rainforest. The park is home to numerous species of plants, animals, and indigenous communities, making it one of the most biologically diverse areas on the planet.
The park is also significant for its oil reserves, which has led to ongoing debates about conservation versus economic development. Efforts have been made to protect Yasuni from oil extraction, highlighting the importance of preserving its natural environment and the rights of the indigenous peoples living there.
