William Keith, 6th Earl Marischal
William Keith, 6th Earl Marischal (c. 1690–1778) was a Scottish nobleman known for his role in the {Jacobite} uprisings. He was a prominent supporter of the {Jacobite cause}, which sought to restore the {Stuart} monarchy to the British throne. His loyalty to the Jacobite movement led him to fight in the {Battle of Culloden} in 1746.
After the defeat of the Jacobites, Keith fled to {France} and lived in exile for many years. He was eventually pardoned and returned to Scotland, where he managed his estates and continued to play a role in local affairs. His legacy is tied to the tumultuous history of Scotland during the 18th century.
