Unrefined Sugar
Unrefined sugar is a type of sweetener that undergoes minimal processing, retaining more of its natural nutrients and flavor. It is often derived from sources like sugarcane or sugar beets and includes varieties such as raw sugar, turbinado, and muscovado. These sugars maintain some of the molasses content, giving them a darker color and richer taste compared to refined sugars.
Because unrefined sugar is less processed, it may contain small amounts of vitamins and minerals, such as calcium and iron. However, it is still primarily composed of sucrose and should be consumed in moderation, just like any other type of sugar, to maintain a balanced diet.
