Tintern Abbey
Tintern Abbey is a historic ruin located in Wales, near the village of Tintern. Founded in 1131 by the Cistercian order, it was one of the first Cistercian monasteries in Britain. The abbey is known for its stunning Gothic architecture and beautiful setting along the banks of the River Wye.
The site was abandoned in the 16th century during the Dissolution of the Monasteries under Henry VIII. Today, Tintern Abbey is a popular tourist attraction, drawing visitors who admire its impressive stonework and the surrounding natural beauty, which inspired poets like William Wordsworth.
