Static Stretches
Static stretches are exercises where a muscle is elongated and held in a fixed position for a period of time, usually between 15 to 60 seconds. This type of stretching helps improve flexibility and can enhance overall muscle function. It is often performed after workouts to aid in recovery and reduce muscle tension.
Common examples of static stretches include the hamstring stretch, quadriceps stretch, and shoulder stretch. These stretches are typically done slowly and gently, allowing the body to relax into the position. It is important to avoid bouncing or forcing the stretch to prevent injury.
