Samoyedic peoples
The Samoyedic peoples are a group of indigenous peoples who primarily inhabit the northern regions of Russia, particularly in areas like the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and Taimyr Peninsula. They are traditionally nomadic reindeer herders, relying on reindeer for food, clothing, and transportation. Their languages belong to the Uralic language family, which includes several distinct languages such as Nenets, Enets, and Nganasan.
Historically, the Samoyedic peoples have maintained a rich cultural heritage, including unique traditions, folklore, and crafts. They have adapted to the harsh Arctic environment, utilizing natural resources for survival. Today, many Samoyedic communities continue to practice their traditional lifestyles while also engaging with modern society.
