Pyramid of Meidum
The Pyramid of Meidum is an ancient Egyptian pyramid located in the Meidum area, about 60 kilometers south of Cairo. It is believed to have been built during the reign of Pharaoh Sneferu in the 26th century BCE. Originally designed as a step pyramid, it was later transformed into a true pyramid, making it one of the earliest examples of this architectural style.
The pyramid stands at approximately 65 meters tall and is made of limestone. Over time, much of its outer casing has eroded, giving it a distinctive appearance. The Pyramid of Meidum is part of a larger complex that includes a mortuary temple and several smaller pyramids, showcasing the significance of burial practices in ancient Egypt.
