She was a member of the House of Anhalt, a German noble family, and the daughter of Prince Friedrich of Anhalt and Princess Marie of Anhalt-Dessau. In 1896, she married Prince Friedrich of Hohenlohe-Langenburg, becoming the Princess of Hohenlohe-Langenburg.
