Pelopidas
Pelopidas was a prominent Theban general and statesman in ancient Greece, known for his role in the Theban resistance against Sparta. He played a crucial part in the liberation of Boeotia from Spartan control and was a key figure in the formation of the Sacred Band of Thebes, an elite military unit.
Pelopidas is best remembered for his leadership during the Battle of Leuctra in 371 BC, where the Thebans achieved a significant victory over the Spartans. His tactical skills and bravery contributed to the rise of Thebes as a major power in Greece during the 4th century BC.
