P.C. Hooft
P.C. Hooft, or Pieter Cornelis Hooft, was a prominent Dutch poet, playwright, and historian born on April 16, 1581, in Amsterdam. He is best known for his contributions to Dutch literature during the Dutch Golden Age, particularly for his epic poem "Baeto," which reflects his classical influences and mastery of language. Hooft also served as the mayor of Amsterdam and was involved in the political and cultural life of his time.
In addition to his literary work, Hooft was a key figure in the Muiderkring, a group of intellectuals and artists who gathered at Muiden Castle.
