Herman Gorter
Herman Gorter was a Dutch poet and socialist born on November 26, 1864, in Amsterdam. He is best known for his contributions to Dutch literature and his involvement in the socialist movement. Gorter’s poetry often explored themes of nature, love, and social justice, reflecting his deep commitment to political ideals.
Gorter gained prominence with his long poem, Mei, published in 1916, which is considered a significant work in Dutch literature. He was also active in the Communist Party and played a role in the early 20th-century socialist movements in the Netherlands. Gorter passed away on September 15, 1927.
