Nureddin Zengi
Nureddin Zengi was a prominent Muslim leader and military commander in the 12th century. He ruled the Zengid dynasty, which was based in Syria and Northern Iraq. Nureddin is best known for his efforts to unite Muslim territories against the Crusaders and for his role in the defense of Damascus.
He was born in 1118 and became the governor of Mosul at a young age. Nureddin expanded his territory through military campaigns and strategic alliances. His leadership laid the groundwork for the rise of Saladin, who succeeded him and continued the fight against the Crusaders.
