Noctambulism
Noctambulism, commonly known as sleepwalking, is a sleep disorder characterized by walking or performing other complex behaviors while in a state of sleep. It typically occurs during the NREM sleep phase, usually within the first few hours after falling asleep. Sleepwalkers may have their eyes open but are generally unaware of their actions and may not remember them upon waking.
This condition is more prevalent in children but can also affect adults. Factors such as stress, sleep deprivation, and certain medications can trigger episodes. While sleepwalking is usually harmless, it can lead to accidents or injuries if the individual is not monitored.
