REM Sleep Behavior Disorder
REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD) is a sleep condition where individuals act out their dreams during the REM sleep phase. Normally, the body experiences temporary paralysis during this stage, preventing movement. However, in RBD, this paralysis is absent, leading to physical actions such as talking, shouting, or even violent movements.
People with RBD may not remember their dreams or actions upon waking. This disorder is often associated with other neurological conditions, such as Parkinson's disease or Lewy body dementia. Diagnosis typically involves a sleep study, and treatment may include medications to help manage symptoms.
