Nepalese Monarchy
The Nepalese Monarchy was a historical institution in Nepal, where kings ruled the country for centuries. The monarchy was established in the 18th century by King Prithvi Narayan Shah, who unified various small kingdoms into modern Nepal. The monarchy played a significant role in shaping Nepal's culture, politics, and society.
In 2008, the monarchy was abolished, and Nepal was declared a federal democratic republic. This change followed a decade-long civil conflict and widespread demands for democracy. The last king, Gyanendra Shah, was dethroned, marking the end of the royal lineage's political power in the country.
