Neo-Assyrian
The Neo-Assyrian period, which lasted from approximately 911 to 609 BCE, marked the height of the Assyrian Empire. This era is characterized by military expansion, advanced administration, and significant cultural achievements. The empire extended its territory across the Near East, including parts of modern-day Iraq, Syria, and Turkey.
During this time, the Neo-Assyrians developed a sophisticated bureaucracy and built impressive cities like Nineveh and Ashur. They are also known for their monumental architecture, intricate relief sculptures, and extensive libraries, which preserved a wealth of knowledge, including the famous Epic of Gilgamesh.
