Naxalites
Naxalites are members of a militant group in India that follows a form of Marxism known as Maoism. They aim to overthrow the government and establish a communist state, primarily focusing on the rights of marginalized communities, including tribal populations and the poor. The movement began in the late 1960s in the village of Naxalbari in West Bengal.
The Naxalite movement has led to significant violence and conflict, particularly in rural areas of India. The group operates mainly in the Red Corridor, a region that stretches across several states, including Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Odisha. The Indian government has responded with military and police actions to combat their influence.
