Namibian Independence
Namibian Independence refers to the country's liberation from South African rule, which began in the early 20th century. After years of struggle, including armed conflict led by the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO), Namibia officially gained independence on March 21, 1990. This marked the end of a long fight for self-determination and the establishment of a democratic government.
The independence process was supported by various international organizations, including the United Nations, which played a crucial role in advocating for Namibia's rights. The first president of independent Namibia was Sam Nujoma, a key figure in the independence movement, who helped shape the nation's future.
