SWAPO
SWAPO, or the South West Africa People's Organization, is a political party in Namibia that was founded in 1960. Initially formed to advocate for the independence of Namibia from South African rule, SWAPO became a key player in the liberation struggle during the 1960s and 1970s. The organization gained international recognition and support for its efforts to end colonialism in the region.
After Namibia gained independence in 1990, SWAPO transitioned into a political party and has since been the dominant force in the country's politics. It has focused on nation-building, economic development, and social justice, shaping Namibia's post-independence policies and governance.
