Maya creation myth
The Maya creation myth describes how the world and humanity were formed by the gods. Initially, there was only the sky and the sea. The gods, including Tepeu and Gucumatz, decided to create land, animals, and eventually humans. They formed the earth and populated it with various creatures.
After several attempts to create humans, the gods finally succeeded with the creation of maize people, who were made from corn. These beings were wise and powerful, but the gods soon realized they were too perfect. Therefore, they decided to create humans from mud, which resulted in weak and flawed beings.
