Popol Vuh
The Popol Vuh is a sacred text of the Maya civilization, originating from the K'iche' people in present-day Guatemala. It is often referred to as the "Maya Book of Creation" and contains mythological narratives about the creation of the world, the origins of humanity, and the adventures of the Hero Twins, Hunahpú and Xbalanqué.
Written in the 16th century, the Popol Vuh was recorded in the K'iche' language using the Latin alphabet. It serves as a crucial source of information about Maya cosmology, culture, and history, reflecting the beliefs and values of the Maya society before and after Spanish colonization.
