Matilda of Guelders was a noblewoman born around 1430 in the Duchy of Guelders, located in present-day Netherlands. She was the daughter of Adolph I, Duke of Guelders and Catherine of Cleves. Matilda became known for her marriage to William IV, Duke of Bavaria, which helped strengthen political alliances in the region.
Matilda's life was marked by her role in the Burgundian Wars, where her family sought to maintain independence from the growing power of the Duchy of Burgundy. She passed away in 1476, leaving behind a legacy tied to the complex feudal politics of her time.
