MNLA
The MNLA, or National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad, is a political and military group based in northern Mali. Founded in 2011, it aims to promote the rights and autonomy of the Tuareg people in the region. The MNLA gained international attention during the 2012 rebellion, which sought independence for the northern territory known as Azawad.
The movement has faced challenges, including internal divisions and conflicts with other groups, such as Ansar Dine and Boko Haram. Despite these issues, the MNLA continues to advocate for the self-determination of the Tuareg and seeks to address the socio-economic grievances of the people in northern Mali.
