National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad
The National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad (MNLA) is a political and military organization that seeks independence for the region of Azawad in Mali. Formed in 2011, the MNLA represents the interests of the Tuareg people and aims to establish a separate state due to historical grievances and cultural differences.
In 2012, the MNLA played a significant role in a rebellion against the Malian government, capturing key cities in Northern Mali. However, the movement later faced challenges from other armed groups, leading to a complex conflict involving various factions and international interventions aimed at stabilizing the region.
