Lycaonians
The Lycaonians were an ancient people who lived in the region of Lycaonia, located in central Asia Minor, which is now part of modern-day Turkey. They spoke a dialect of the Luwian language and were known for their unique cultural practices and traditions. The area was characterized by its mountainous terrain and small, independent city-states.
In historical texts, the Lycaonians are often mentioned in relation to the Apostle Paul, who visited their region during his missionary journeys. They are noted for their interactions with early Christians and their responses to the teachings of Christianity. The city of Iconium was one of the prominent centers in Lycaonia.
