Lord Curzon
Lord Curzon, officially known as George Nathaniel Curzon, was a British statesman who served as the Viceroy of India from 1899 to 1905. He was born on January 11, 1859, and was a member of the Conservative Party. Curzon is known for his efforts to modernize India’s infrastructure, including railways and irrigation systems, and for his focus on education and public health.
During his tenure, Curzon faced significant challenges, including rising nationalist sentiments and communal tensions. He is also remembered for the controversial partition of Bengal in 1905, which aimed to weaken nationalist movements but ultimately fueled further unrest. Curzon returned to Britain in 1905 and continued his political career until his death in 1925.
