Lemko
The Lemko people are an ethnic group primarily found in the Carpathian Mountains of southeastern Poland, western Ukraine, and northern Slovakia. They are part of the larger Rusyn community and have a distinct culture, language, and history. The Lemko language is a dialect of Rusyn, which is closely related to Ukrainian and Slovak.
Historically, the Lemkos were known for their unique wooden architecture and traditional crafts. Their way of life was closely tied to agriculture and pastoralism. In the mid-20th century, many Lemkos faced displacement due to political changes, leading to a diaspora in various countries, including the United States and Canada.
