Rusyn
Rusyn refers to an East Slavic ethnic group primarily found in the Carpathian region, particularly in parts of Ukraine, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary. They have their own distinct language, known as Rusyn language, which is closely related to Ukrainian and Slovak. Rusyns have a rich cultural heritage that includes unique traditions, folklore, and music.
The Rusyn community has faced challenges regarding their identity and recognition, especially in the context of national borders and political changes. In some countries, they are recognized as a national minority, while in others, they are considered part of the broader Ukrainian or Slovak populations.
