Kenwa Mabuni was a prominent Okinawan martial artist, best known for founding the Shito-ryu style of karate. Born in 1889 in Okinawa, Japan, he began training in martial arts at a young age and studied under various masters, including Itosu Yasutsune and Kyan Chotoku. Mabuni's dedication to karate led him to develop a unique system that combined elements from different styles. In addition to his contributions to karate, Mabuni was instrumental in promoting the martial art outside of Okinawa.
