Kashmiri Rulers
The history of Kashmir rulers is marked by various dynasties that governed the region over centuries. Notable among them were the Kashmiri Pandits, who ruled during ancient times, followed by the Shah Mir dynasty in the 14th century. The Mughals later took control, bringing significant cultural and architectural influences.
In the 19th century, the Sikh Empire annexed Kashmir, which was then sold to Gulab Singh, a Dogra ruler, in 1846. The Dogra dynasty ruled until 1947, when the region became part of India and Pakistan following the partition, leading to ongoing territorial disputes.
