Kamehameha Dynasty
The Kamehameha Dynasty was a royal family that ruled the Hawaiian Islands from 1810 to 1893. Founded by Kamehameha I, also known as Kamehameha the Great, the dynasty unified the islands and established a centralized government. The dynasty played a crucial role in shaping modern Hawaii and its culture.
The Kamehameha Dynasty included several notable monarchs, such as Kamehameha II and Kamehameha III. Under their reigns, Hawaii experienced significant changes, including the introduction of a written constitution and the promotion of education. The dynasty ended with the overthrow of Queen Liliʻuokalani in 1893, leading to the eventual annexation of Hawaii by the United States.
