Kamehameha II
Kamehameha II, also known as Liholiho, was the second king of the Hawaiian Islands, reigning from 1819 until his death in 1824. He was the son of Kamehameha I, the founder of the Hawaiian Kingdom, and played a crucial role in the transition of power after his father's death. Kamehameha II is known for abolishing the traditional kapu system, which restricted certain behaviors and practices in Hawaiian society.
During his reign, Kamehameha II sought to modernize the islands and foster relationships with foreign nations. He traveled to England in 1823, where he met King George IV and aimed to strengthen ties with the British Empire. Unfortunately, his reign was cut short by illness, and he died in 1824, leaving a significant impact on Hawaiian history.
