K2 Mountain
K2 Mountain, also known as Mount Godwin-Austen, is the second-highest mountain in the world, standing at 8,611 meters (28,251 feet) above sea level. It is located in the Karakoram range, which spans the borders of Pakistan and China. K2 is renowned for its challenging climbing conditions and steep, icy slopes, making it one of the most difficult peaks to summit.
The mountain was first successfully climbed on July 7, 1954, by an Italian expedition led by Lino Lacedelli and Achille Compagnoni. K2 is often referred to as the "Savage Mountain" due to its high fatality rate among climbers. Despite its dangers, it attracts many experienced mountaineers each year.
